An alert has been sounded by the Arunachal Pradesh and Assam government regarding possibility of flash floods in some rivers .

The inhabitants of low-lying areas near the river Siang bank have been asked to shift to safer places.

In Assam too, the Dhemaji district administration is taking precautionary measures as the river Siang is the principal constituent of river Brahmaputra.

The Government of China has informed the Indian government about abnormally high water levels in the Tsangpo river after a recent cloudburst, following which the Arunachal government and Dhemaji district administration have been put on alert.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) rescued 19 people stranded in an island amid the swelling Siang River in East Siang district of partially flood-hit Arunachal Pradesh.

The rescue operation by the IAF followed a request by the East Siang district administration to evacuate the people stranded at Jampani under Sille-Oyan circle of the district yesterday.
