landslide image text book imaginerySearch and rescue operation has been completed at the Laptap village landslide area in Sagalee sub-division In Arunachal Pradesh. Rescue teams have recovered 14 bodies from the debris.

Police has informed that out of the 14 dead, 10 are female and 4 male. In Laptap village a massive landslide triggered by torrential rain had buried alive 14 members of 4 families on Tuesday afternoon.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday visited the landslide affected area and took stock of the situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a telephonic conversation with Pema Khandu has expressed his deep sorrow over loss of several lives and said that the country is with Arunachal during these trying times.

The Prime Minister informed Mr. Khandu that he has directed Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju to visit Arunachal immediately to take stock of the situation.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke to Chief Minister Khandu and expressed his sorrow over the entire incidence. On the other hand, Election Commission has rescind ed the notification for bye-election to 12-Pakke Kessang (ST) Assembly Constituency in the state, which was slated on July 29 next due to the prevailing conditions of monsoon.
