Barun Chandra Thakur – father of deceased Pradhyumn Thakurtoday moved the Supreme Court challenging the grant of anticipatory bail toAugustine Francis Pinto and two others of Ryan International School at Gurugram in Haryana.

Seeking stay of the grant of interim anticipatory bail to Pinto, Ryan Pinto and Grace Pinto, the petitioner Barun Chandra Thakur has contended that the grant of anticipatory bail was “absolutely illegal, unwarranted, unconstitutional, erroneous, …”

Augustine Francis Pinto, Ryan Pinto and Grace Pinto were granted anticipatory bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 28.

The petitioner Barun Chandra Thakur has said that the anticipatory bail was granted to Pinto and others without hearing either the CBI or the complainant in the case.

Describing the grant of anticipatory bail as unfortunate, Barun Chandra Thakur in his petition has said that the investigation by the CBI were at preliminary stage and granting interim bail to Pintos at this stage “frustrates the criminal justice delivery system…”

The matter relates to the death of 7 year old Pradhyumn Thakur – a class two student of Ryan International School at its Gurugram branch,
