AMU fourth best university in India

AMUALIGARH (AMN) : The India Today Group – Nielsen Survey of India’s best Universities has ranked Aligarh Muslim University at fourth position among all Indian Universities. It is an upward journey for this historical institution as it was ranked sixth in 2014 and eighth in 2013 India Today-Nielsen Ranking surveys.

Expressing a deep sense of happiness on this achievement, the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has vowed that the University would grab the top position among Indian universities in 2017 ranking. He has also resolved to find a place amongst 200 universities in the world by 2020. This resolve, if fulfilled, will be a historical venture as no Indian university has been able to make it to the worlds’ best 200 universities survey conducted by the Times Higher Education, UK.

The Times Higher Education survey of top 100 Asian universities for 2015, which was recently released, has put the AMU at 90th position, which makes a second rank for the institution among Indian universities included in the survey.

The Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University, which has got second position in the India Today-Nielsen Ranking are the only institutions from Uttar Pradesh to have found place in the top five universities.

It may be noted that the Aligarh Muslim University has secured third position in academic performance while it has outshined the Banaras Hindu University by achieving second rank in infrastructure development. In the field of student facilities also, AMU has got third position while BHU has been put in fourth position.

The India Today-Nielsen ranking of best colleges, which was published recently, has given sixth rank to the Law faculty of AMU, 10th position to its department of Fine Arts and 14th rank to the J. N. Medical College, which was at 15th last year. The Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, AMU has got 21st rank while the Outlook magazine has put it at 35th position in its recently published survey.
