BJP National President and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has formally launched the party membership drive in Telangana by handing over membership to Soni Nayak, a tribal woman of Ranganayakula Tanda (ताण्डा) near Samshabad.

Speaking at a public meeting, he asked party men to strive for making 20 lakh membership during the drive. Mr. Shah visited Hyderabad for the first time after assuming charge of the home ministry. He took part in a BJP meeting in which a large number of party membership drive in-charges from various districts participated.

Former Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskar Rao joined BJP on the occasion by taking membership in the presence of the party President. Earlier, at Samshabad airport, he reviewed the CISF functioning especially relating to the security of airports.
