Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has emphasized on the need to increase the production of traditional seeds to strengthen the rural economy. Addressing the National Symposium on production of improved and traditional seeds through the Cooperative Sector, Mr Shah also stressed on the need to increase the export of seeds in the cooperative sector. He said, India’s share in exporting seeds is less than one percent. Mr Shah said, every farmer can produce seeds through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies. Mr Shah said, today, the whole world wants good quality seeds of millet and India can have a monopoly on Ragi, Bajra, Jowar and many such millets.
