BJP Chief Amit Shah today launched scathing attack on Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the VVIP chopper deal and asked her to reveal names of those persons who received kickbacks in the scam. He told media in New Delhi that the Congress was in power when the deal was struck and it is responsible for the irregularities. He said, the opposition party should bring out the truth before the people.
Taking a jibe at Ms. Gandhi over her remarks that she does not fear anybody, Mr. Shah said the Congress Chief is right and that is why such scams keep coming out in the open. He also took a dig at UPA government saying it was a rare dispensation as scams under it were reported when it was in power and they continue to be reported even two years after it was voted out.
Yesterday, Ms Gandhi had rejected allegations linking her and party leaders to bribes in the chopper deal as baseless. Recently, an Italian court has observed that there is a reasonable belief corruption in the AgustaWestland chopper deal. The deal is related to purchase of 12 helicopters for VVIPs from Italian manufacturer, Finmeccanica during UPA rule.
