Ahead of his country 47th National Day celebrations, the United Arab Emirates, UAE Ambassador to India Dr. Ahmed Albanna today highlighted warm ties between India and UAE while interacting with a group of media persons.

The UAE’s 47th National Day coincides with the centenary of the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, as H H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed termed 2018 the “Year of Zayed”. The late Sheikh Zayed was renowned for his wisdom and vision, his role and his policies in building the country, achieving development, strengthening its economy and national security, and leading it on the path towards a prosperous future.

UAE Ambassador-dr-ahmed-albannaAmbassador touched upon the achievements of UAE since its formation and strong bilateral relations between both the countries & future initiatives to strengthen the ties.

“The historical and close ties between India and UAE, marked by long standing relations between the people of the two countries, are now being transformed into a strong strategic partnership” said the ambassador.

He praised the leaders of both the countries for continuously enhancing the bi-lateral relations. “ They underlined and emphasize the importance of strengthening co-operation in all the fields, especially economic cooperations trade, industry investment and trade services”, he said.

“India is the first trading partner for the UAE. The trade relations between the UAE and India reached $53 billion, of which $37 billion is non-oil trade. The UAE is the third largest foreign trade partner to India after China and USA,” ambassador informed

Close bonds between the Indian community and the nationals can be judged from the fact that the Indian community is the largest expatriate community in the UAE, numbering about 1.5 million. Strong bonds of friendship between the UAE and India are poised to be further diversified and strengthened in months and years to come.

India-UAE bilateral relations have received impetus from time-to-time with exchange of high-level visits from both sides. The historic visit of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to UAE on 16-17 August 2015 marked the beginning of a new and comprehensive and strategic partnership.
