Amarnath Yatra was resumed from Nunwan Pahalgam Base Camp early this morning. However, the Yatra continued to remain temporarily suspended from Baltal route.
The weather has improved in the flood affected areas since last evening. MeT department has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places in next 24 hours.
The water level in River Jhelum has receded below danger mark at Sangam gauge in south Kashmir whileas the water level is receding slowly at Ram Munshi gauge in Srinagar. The water level at Ram Munshi Bagh gauge is still flowing above the danger mark.
The habitations along the River Jhelum Embankment and Nallahs besides low lying areas of South & Central Kashmir, have been asked to remain vigilant, alert and do not panic.
The government is monitoring the situation closely. The government has set up round-the-clock multi-disciplinary monitoring system in various parts of the state. Seven teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and two teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are in place for rescue and relief operation.
Joint Flood Control Room has been set up at Hari Niwas in Srinagar. Governor N N Vohra yesterday reviewed the preparedness. He also visited flood prone areas and Relief Centres in the city.
