Amar Singh’s appearance before the police comes after the Delhi Police issued summons to him under section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code, asking him to present himself before the Crime branch.
The decision to call Singh for questioning comes after the arrest of Suhail Hindustani, who allegedly acted as liaison between Singh and BJP MPs.
The former SP leader is suspected to be involved in bribing the then three BJP MPs – Ashok Argal, Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Bhagora-who walked into the Lok Sabha waving bundles of cash ahead of the trust vote on 22nd July 2008.
Delhi police have speeded up the arrests and fresh investigations into the case after the Supreme Court strongly criticized the police last week for its callous approach and tardy progress in the case.
