The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday evening freed all 6 detainees who were taken into custody for interrogation for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities, reports AIR . The six were nabbed in a joint operation by Delhi Police special cell and UP ATS along with three others arrested on suspicion of terror-related activities. The joint operation was launched simultaneously in Mumbai, Jalandhar, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar.

Three of arrested were from Bijnore and Unnao districts of Uttar Pradesh. They were arrested from Mumbai, Jalandhar and Bijnore yesterday.

A resident of Bijnore, Umar alias Nazim was identified as mastermind of the gang. He was nabbed from Mumbai. He has been charged for collection of funds, arranging weapons and misguide the youths to join the group.

Asim Arun, UP ATS, was quoted by Times of India yesterday saying UP ATS, along with police of five states has conducted anti-terror raids in Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. In the joint operation, two were arrested at a mosque in Bijnor’s Barhapur area.
