A twenty-eight-member all-party delegation to violence-hit Jammu and Kashmir was finalised yesterday. The delegation led by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will include Senior Cabinet Ministers Arun Jaitley and Ram Vilas Paswan.
Minister of State in the PMO and MP from Jammu, Dr. Jitendra Singh is also a part of the team which will visit the state on Sunday.
The team comprises Congress leaders in both houses of Parliament Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mallikarjun Kharge, CPM chief Sitaram Yechury, JD-U leader Sharad Yadav, CPI leader D Raja, NCP’s Tariq Anwar and Saugata Roy of TMC.
Other members of the delegation include Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut, Akali Dal’s Prem Singh Chandumajra, BJD’s Dilip Tirkey and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi. BSP and Samajwadi Party have extended their support but have not been able to nominate any of their members.
The decision to send the all-party delegation was taken during an all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi following violent protests in Kashmir after the killing of a terrorist.
