Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav have been re-inducted into the Samajwadi Party by its supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The decision finally came after Akhilesh met with Mulayam Singh in an attempt to broker peace after he held a meeting of over 200 party MLAs at his residence in the morning. The meeting which resulted in the truce between Akhilesh and Mulayam, was organised by senior Samajwadi Party leader and cabinet minister Azam Khan.
Later, talking to media, state party chief Shivpal Yadav said that together they will fight communal forces and win again to form a majority government in the state.
Sources in the party said that SP members attending the emergency national convention called by Ram Gopal Yadav on Sunday tomorrow, may elect Akhilesh Yadav the national party president, a post now being held by Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Opposition termed the latest episode of Samajwadi Party to be a well scripted drama to hide the bad image of party and CM Akhilesh Yadav.
But it was a perfect melodrama for the party workers who could be able to gleefully smile after months of tormenting time. After this prolonged scuffle, Akhilesh Yadav has clearly emerged as a stronger leader in the party.
Mulayam Singh had to concede his demand of having a say in ticket distribution to the candidates. However, several other issues still to be resolved- such as merger of Qaumi Ekta Dal, tickets to the youth leaders and no ticket to tainted candidates.
But as of now, all seems to be well in the party which had become a battle field till a few hours ago.
