The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi has appealed to its resident doctors to resume duties in the interest of patient care. In a statement, AIIMS said that the Government is committed to the cause of healthcare professionals’ safety and the Supreme Court has also assured affirmative action for ensuring the safety of the medical staff. AIIMS has constituted a committee to address any immediate concerns of healthcare professionals. The committee comprises the academic dean as the chairperson alongside four other members.
The institute has also formulated a separate fifteen-member committee for an internal security audit with regard to the safety and security of healthcare personnel, patients and visitors. The committee will assess the security of all the areas of the campus including the outreach campuses during the day and night.
Meanwhile, Resident doctors’ from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Maulana Azad Medical College, Vardhman Mahavir and Safdarjung Hospital, today held a protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding justice for the alleged rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. Resident doctors of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi performed a street play as part of the protest.
