AMN / GUWAHATI

In a major blow to the BJP coalition in Asaam, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Monday pulled out of the BJP-led coalition government in Assam.

It was announced by the AGP President and Assam Cabinet Minister Atul Bora after a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

He said as BJP remains firm on tabling the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, AGP is quitting the coalition government.

The snapping of the ties by the AGP, however, does not threaten the BJP-led alliance government in Assam.
