Urges international community to continue pressuring Islamabad

Afghanistan has slammed Pakistan over terrorism and urged the international community to continue pressuring Islamabad.
Addressing UN Security Council, Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Mahmoud Saikal said, the regional state sponsors of terrorism have recently pursued new methods of denial and belligerence by playing reverse psychology and attempting to distort narratives.
He said, irrefutable evidence of Pakistan’s complicity in facilitating safe havens and logistical support to terrorists has been responded to by failed methods of counter-narration – accusing Afghanistan of ‘providing safe havens to terrorists.
Saikal said, exploiting the democratic political dynamics of Afghanistan, they attempt to sow discord among Afghan people, victimize refugees by unfairly linking them to terrorism, and portray their orchestrated terror attacks as civil war.
Pakistan has long been accused of providing support to militant groups who launch attacks in Afghanistan, but Islamabad denies this.
In bid to pressure Pakistan, US cut financial assistance to the country, worth 2 billion dollars in January and moved to get Pakistan in the global terrorism financing watch list.
Mr Saikal welcomed the measures saying they would promote genuine and productive counter-terrorism cooperation. The envoy also called on the Taliban accept the government’s call for peace.
