Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba, today received the baton of Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) from the outgoing IAF Chief Arup Raha.
Admiral Sunil Lanba will be senior most among three service chiefs.
The passing of baton took place at a ceremony in South Block here.
He would assume the new head of the Chiefs of Staff Committee with effect from afternoon of December 31, the day Air Chief Marshal Raha relinquish his office.
Army Chief Gen Dalbir Singh, who also retires from service on December 31, along with senior officers of all three Services and Integrated Defence Staff were present on the occasion.
Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, had taken over as Chairman COSC on August 1, 2014.
