Health Minister J P Nadda has said there is no shortage of medicines in the states affected by H1N1 influenza. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha today, Mr Nadda said, adequate stock of drugs and protective equipment are available in the states. He said all the states have also been imparted training to treat patients infected by the virus.
The Health Minister said, cases have been reported recently from some states including Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and they have sufficient stock of drug Oseltamivir. He said, Health and Family Welfare Ministry has also kept emergency stock of medicines.
On vaccination, the Minister said, it is recommended only for the health care workers involved in treating influenza cases and high risk groups.
On demand for All India Institute of Medical Sciences by a Member of the House, Mr Nadda said, the government has already sanctioned setting up of a institute for the state and reply of the state is awaited for setting up another AIIMS there.
