Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi met Delhi Lt Governor, VK Saxena this evening and staked claim to the post of Chief Minister of Delhi. AAP had earlier announced that Atishi will be the new Chief Minister of Delhi. She was elected as the leader of the AAP Legislative Party during the party MLAs meeting.

Talking to the media after the MLAs meeting, City Minister Gopal Rai said it has been unanimously decided that until the next assembly elections, Atishi will be Chief Minister. He said the AAP wants the assembly election in Delhi to be held in October- November this year.  Mr Rai accused the BJP of conspiring to finish the AAP.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has resigned from the CM post. Mr Kejriwal met Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena this evening and submitted his resignation.  

Meanwhile, the BJP took a dig at AAP saying just changing the face will not change the party’s character. Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva told the media that the AAP has indulged in corruption and it has to answer corruption of the last ten years under the leadership of Mr. Kejriwal.
