Bharatiya Janata Party has condemned the West Bengal government’s decision to block live telecast of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on the occasion of 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago speech..
BJP national spokesperson Nalin Kohli told a news agency that it’s shocking and unfortunate that in a democracy, the Chief minister of a state wants to block Prime Minister’s message to the students. He added a higher standard is expected from a democratically elected Chief Minister in the federal structure in which the Prime Minister of India holds democratically elected highest position.
Resonating similar sentiments, BJP leader Sudesh Verma also criticized Mamta to oppose a move that is aimed at creating patriotic fervor in the country on the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He said the UGC directive is in sync with overall mode in the country to create patriotic fervor. The occasion is Vivekananda’s anniversary.
