Enforcement Directorate (ED) today conducted raids at the farmhouse of RJD chief Lalu Prasad daughter Misa Bharti and her husband in Delhi in connection with alleged money laundering case. The farmhouses are linked to Ms Bharti and her husband.
The searches are connected to a money laundering probe being conducted by the agency against two brothers, Surendra Kumar Jain and Virendra Jain, and others who are alleged to have laundered several crore rupees using shell companies. The Jain brothers were arrested by the ED under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
Earlier, ED had arrested Misa Bharti’s chartered accountant Rajesh Agarwal in eight thousand crore rupees money trail scam.
The raid comes a day after the CBI conducted searches at residences and premises linked to Lalu Yadav and his family in connection with alleged irregularities in leasing out railway hotels at Ranchi and Puri to a private party. The tender was awarded during Lalu yadav’s tenure as railway minister in 2004-2009.
