NCP and CPI(M) are only two parties which have decided to participate in Election Commission’s Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Challenge beginning from June 3.
Friday was the last day of filing the nomination to participate in the EVM Challenge. On May 20, the Election Commission had thrown challenge to all recognised national and state parties to have a try for “tampering and hacking’ EVMs at various sessions beginning from June 3. ‘Eight political parties had sent response to the poll panel by 1700 hrs today which was the deadline,’ the EC spokesperson said today.
NCP and CPI(M) expressed their interest in participating in the EVM Challenge and has nominated its three representatives for participating in the challenge. AAP and Congress raised some issue but as per existing framework of challenge and not expressed their interest in participating in the challenge. While CPI, BJP and RLD expressed their interest to observe the challenge, the spokesperson added.
In wake of complaints made by political parties on the alleged possibility of “tampering and hacking” of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the Election Commission on May 20 had thrown an open challenge to all the recognised national and state parties to “demonstrate” and have a try at the same at various sessions beginning June 3.
