CBIThe Central Bureau of Invistagitation (CBI) today produced Trinamool Congress (TMC) Parliamentary Party leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay before the Special Chief Judicial Magistrate court, designated as the CBI court in Bhubaneswar in 17 thousand crore Rose Valley chit fund scam. CBI sources said the investigating agency sought 12 days remand of Bandyopadhyay as the TMC leader was not allegedly cooperating with the investigation. Admitting the probing agency’s petition, the court gave 6 days remand of Bandyopadhyay.

The CBI, probing into the mega chit fund scam, brought the TMC MP to the Odisha capital Bhubaneswar last night to produce him before court. A four-time MP and former Union minister, is the fifth and most high-profile Trinamool leader to be arrested in Ponzi scam related cases so far. On 30th December, another Trinamul Congress MP Tapas Paul, who the CBI arrested and brought to Bhubaneswar for interrogation of his alleged links with money deposit collection company Rose Valley, was again remanded in custody of the central agency till Friday for further interrogation.

During his first remand, the Paul blamed singer and Union Minister of State Babul Supriyo for his arrest, Paul had alleged that the Babul Supriyo and some other politicians are involved in the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
Sources said that Sudip Bandopadhyay and Tapas Pal would be interrogated together by CBI in Bhubaneswar, so that more names related to the scam may be revealed.

Earlier this week, Sohini Paul, daughter of arrested MP Tapas Paul, appeared before the CBI court in Bhubaneswar twice in connection with the Rose Valley Group chit fund scam. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress party activists today staged protest in front of the CBI office in Bhubaneswar protesting against arrest of their party leaders.
