Govt serious about punishing those behind Uri attack: Defence Minister

PARIKARDefence Minister Manohar Parrikar has admitted that something might have gone wrong which led to Uri terror attack. Speaking at a function in New Delhi today, Mr. Parrikar said, the centre will correct the mistake as he believes in zero error. He said, the country should ensure that such incident is not repeated again and again.

“Obviously something must have been wrong…although I will not go into details of it. Obviously it’s a very sensitive matter. When something goes wrong, while you try to correct it you should also ensure it does not happen again. There are management principles to ensure that this happens. We will definitely find out what went wrong and also takes steps to ensure it doesn’t go wrong,” Mr Parrikar said

“I believe in zero error and in 100% perfection in my way of life. A nation should ensure this is not repeated again and again.”

 

He also asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that those behind Uri attack will not go unpunished, will not be remained a statement. He said, how to punish that will be worked out and the government is serious about it.

Without naming Pakistan, Mr. Parrikar took a dig at that country saying empty vessels sound much. He said, India is a responsible power but that does not mean, it will sleep for this kind of cross border terrorism. The Minister added he will not reveal the details of what India can do, but sometimes knee jerk reaction is required.

Meanwhile Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar summoned Pakistan’s envoy Abdul Basit this evening and gave a list of evidence that it said underlined that the terror infrastructure in Pakistan remains active.
