PM Modi & Egyptian President El-Sisi hold delegation level talks

India and Egypt have signed an agreement in the area of Maritime Transport to step up co-operation on the seas. The agreement was signed after delegation level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in New Delhi. In his press statement, Mr Modi said, growing radicalisation, including violence and spread of terror are a real threat across regions.

Pitching for greater information and operational exchanges to combat terrorism, the two countries also agreed to cooperate on emerging challenges of cyber security. They will work together to fight drug trafficking, transitional crimes and money laundering. Saying trade and investment linkages are essential for eco prosperity of the societies, Mr Modi called for increased flow of goods, services and capital between India and Egypt. Mr Modi appreciated Egypt’s good work during its current term on UNSC.

Mr said the two sides agreed that UNSC needs to be reformed to reflect today’s realities. He said, India and Egypt decided to facilitate greater people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges. India stands ready to be a reliable partner in fulfillment of Egypt’s developmental, economic and security goals.

Egypt President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said, there is a need to intensify collaboration between India and Egypt in multi-lateral fora. Earlier, President Sisi was accorded ceremonial welcome at the forecourts of the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Yesterday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
