Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said all required measures are being taken to bring back normalcy in the Kashmir. Interacting with the delegations representing different sections of people in Srinagar on Saturday, Rajnath Singh appreciated the initiative of delegations for putting forth free and fair feedback and suggestions which will help in restoring normalcy in the region.

Home Minister also assured the delegations that necessary tangible action would be taken to address the concerns and difficulties.

While major trade, economic and tourism bodies of Kashmir, civil society fora and opposition Congress boycotted the Union Minister who is staying at Nehru Guest House here, some Ministers in the State Government, a “group of religious clerics” and a delegation of Shikarawalas and Houseboat owners met him.

Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the two major trade and economic bodies in the Valley, while deciding not to meet the Home Minister, said “such exercise will be futile”.

The Home Minister is on a two day visit to review overall situation in Kashmir in the aftermath of spontaneous protests and violence that broke after the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani on 8th of this month in South Kashmir’s Kokernag area.

Rajnath Singh met 15 delegations comprising of representatives from Sikh community, Kashmiri Pandits, Imams, fruit growers, chamber of commerce, youths, horticulture and Tourism & Hospitality industry entrepreneurs.

Holds discussions with Governor

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, held extensive discussions with Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here Saturday evening.

The discussions, besides other matters, were particularly related to the recent development in the State, an official spokesman said.

Meanwhile curfew in other districts in Valley, the restrictions under Section 144 will remain in force in four districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, Budgam and Ganderbal.

Barring BSNL post paid landline, mobile and broadband internet services, all private mobile telephone services continue to remain suspended.

This is Home Minister’s 2nd visit during the current month to Kashmir. He visited Kashmir on 1st July to review security situation in the aftermath of deadly militant attack on CRPF convoy at Pampore on Srinagar Jammu National Highway on June 25.
