The normal life across Kashmir Valley remained paralysed on the fourth consecutive day following the killing of banned Hizbul Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani and his two associates in an encounter last Friday. The curfew like restrictions remained in force in several sensitive areas in south, north Kashmir and Srinagar parts.

The mobile telephony in south Kashmir districts besides mobile internet and train services continued to remain suspended. An official told AIR that another batch of over 4000 Amarnath yatris left Jammu based Base Camp today afternoon. Till this evening, over One Lakh 37 Thousand yatris paid obeisance at Amarnath Cave shrine and had darshan of ice lingam.

Another youth, Ishfaq Ahmad of Batpora Sopore was killed during clashes in north Kashmir’s Kralpora area in Kupwara district. The death toll of civilians reached 32. Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti in her appeal through local Radio and Doordarshan has urged people not to indulge in violence.

She has expressed grief over loss of lives during prevailing situation. Chief Minister assured probe into alleged disproportionate use of force that led to the killings. She sought cooperation from cross section of people to help the government in restoring peace and normalcy.
