The BJP has formed an alliance of non-Congress parties for the development of north eastern states. In a tweet yesterday, BJP President Amit Shah said, the Chief Ministers of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Sikkim have proposed to join the non-Congress alliance. The main objective of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), which is part of the NDA, will be all-round development of North East and better co-ordination among the states and central government.
The decision to form the alliance was taken at a meeting in Guwahati yesterday which was attended by Mr Shah, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav and Chief Ministers of Assam, Nagaland, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. BJP leader and Cabinet Minister in newly formed Assam government Himanta Biswa Sarma will be Convener of the alliance.
Chief Ministers of Assam and Nagaland have welcomed the formation of the North East Democratic Alliance. Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal said, the new alliance will help to boost the development process and resolve issues amicably. Nagaland Chief Minister T Zeliang hoped that the move will help in expediting development process.
