PM 2Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for giving more powers to women to strengthen the country. Addressing the 2nd day of National Conference of Women Legislators in New Delhi, Mr Modi said, every citizen of India strengthens the nation and a Mother strengthens a citizen therefore it is the need of the hour to make women more stronger. Mr Modi said, women should understand themselves and their strength.

The Prime Minister said, this can happen only when the women face and deal with the challenges efficiently. He said if women provided with better opportunities they can excel and touch the heights in any field. Mr Modi said, when it comes to multi task activities, nobody can beat women. He said the country had many Foreign Minister’s but everybody knows about the outstanding work of present External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Speaking on the occasion, former President Pratibha Devisingh Patil asked women to come forward and make the nation stronger. She said, children must be taught that men and women are equal from the very beginning.

Union Minister Uma Bharti who also addressed the conference said women can play a good role in ensuring better governance in the country. She said the need of the hour is to increase women representation in politics. The Minister also pitched for better infrastructure, law and order and corruption free administration for good governance.

Prime Minister said women representation has increased in his government. He asked women legislators to adopt latest technologies to reach out and connect to people across the country. He said adapting better technology can help women legislators to receive views from common man and find solutions to their problems.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has said women must develop their personality and face the challenges in their life with grit and determination. Addressing the National Conference of Women Legislators in New Delhi, she asked all those present to take the message of women empowerment to their respective areas. She said MLAs and MLCs got an opportunity to visit Central Hall and get a glimpse of some Parliamentary traditions during the conference.
