Situation is still very tense and normal life is out of gear in most part of Haryana due to the on going Jat agitation for reservation. Four people were killed in Army firing in Jhajjar yesterday taking the death toll due to the agitation to seven.

Two people were also injured in firing at Rohtak where Jat agitators set on fire a cloth market and a bus stand. Army is patrolling along with police and paramilitary forces in Rohtak city which continues to be under curfew. According to reports, some mischievous elements have joined agitators who only indulge in loot and arson. In Bhiwani district, four police posts were set ablaze at different places during last night.

No train is running between Chandigarh and Delhi today. Bus service from Chandigarh to towns of Haryana has also been affected due to the agitation. Hundreds of passengers are stranded in Chandigarh and other parts of Punjab and Haryana. Delhi is totally cut off from Punjab.

Earlier, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and the city Water Minister took up the matter with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh last night. They apprised him of the water crisis in Delhi due to the Jat stir, and sought the Centre’s help. Mr Singh assured the city government of finding a solution to the problem.

Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar have appealed to the protesters to maintain peace and come forward for talks to resolve the issue. Several Jat leaders have refused to call off the pro-quota agitation unless the government promulgated an ordinance to include the community in the OBC category.
