Two CRPF personnel were martyred while nine others injured in gun-battle in the anti militancy operation to flush out militants from the government building in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district in Jammu & Kashmir,.

The encounter happened after militants attacked a CRPF convoy near Government complex of J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute on Srinagar Jammu National Highway in Pampore town of Pulwama district late afternoon on Saturday.

The attackers took refuge inside Institute complex after attacking the security personnel with assault rifles.

State’s Director General of Police K Rajendra said, security forces have been successful in evacuating the civilians from the building.

Deputy PRO CRPF Bhavesh Chowdhary told media that two CRPF personnel were killed in today’s attack till now.

He said one Head Constable Driver R.K. Rana was killed on spot while another Head Constable Bhola Singh later succumbed to injuries.

Chowdhary said two more critically injured CRPF personnel and seven other injured personnel were undergoing advanced treatment at Army’s Badami Bagh Cantonment Hospital in Srinagar.

DIG Police Central Kashmir Range Ghulam Hassan Bhat confirmed that all the people including employees and students trapped inside the EDI campus were evacuated safely.

He said three militants were believed to be holed up and the gunfight was going on till now.
