Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conference will be held in New Delhi from 8th to 10th January next year. Briefing media, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said the conference is being planned differently to develop new paradigm for engagement with Indian Diaspora.
Mrs Swaraj also holds the charge of Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry. She said participation in the Conference will be through invitation only and not through on line registration as in earlier editions of Pravasi Bharati Divas, PBD, conventions.
She informed that, apart from Cabinet Ministers and Chief Ministers, 150 experts from 30 to 40 countries would be invited for the conference. The Minister said, while earlier PBDs focused on meetings with the Diaspora, PBD Conference 2016 will be an attempt to do an expert study on various issues concerning the Diaspora.
The Minister informed that the traditional PBD Convention will be held every alternative year, with the partner state hosting the event.
