Congress president Sonia Gandhi today kicked off the party’s campaign for the forthcoming Elections in Bihar saying the future of both Bihar and the country would be determined by the outcome of the crucial Assembly polls in the state.
She criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making “Jhoote Wade” (hollow promises) to the people of Bihar.
“People of Bihar have proved that they don’t believe in the hollow promises made by Prime Minister Modi. People are aware of this government’s 17 months rule whose anti-people policies have affected thousand of framers, workers and weavers in Bhagalpur and its nearby areas,” Congress president Gandhi said addressing a rally at Kahalgaon, near Bhagalpur.
Congress President sharply attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi describing him as an expert in packaging and repackaging.
She alleged that no achievement was registered in the last 17 months of Modi goverment , which has adversely affecting workers, weavers and farmers.
Rejecting NDA leaders allegations on previous UPA government, the Congress president said that during UPA regime many important programme were initiated by Manmohan Singh government and referred to MGNREGA (Mahatama Gandhi national rural employment guarantee act) for generating large number of employment in rural areas including Bihar .
Mrs Gandhi appreciated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said he has good image as a chief minister. In her second rally at Wazirganj of Gaya Mrs. Gandhi raised issues of health and other social sector schemes and crticised Modi government for reducing budgets for these sectors.
Mrs Gandhi also held NDA government responsibe for high prices of food items. She claimed that grand alliance is for all and not based on cast and religion.
The rally was attended by congress national general secretary Shakil Ahmed khan, senior leader C.P Joshi, two Bhagalpur sitting MLAs Sadanand Singh and Ajit Sharma and state congress president Ashok Chaudhary.
