The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has launched a nationwide Cyber Security Capacity Building Programme to equip cadets with digital skills and cyber awareness. NCC and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology today signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of Director General NCC, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, and Director General (NIELIT), Dr Madan Mohan Tripathi, in New Delhi. Mr Vats said that with NCC’s presence in over 700 districts across the country, the collaboration with NIELIT will help ensure pan-India implementation. Under the initiative, NCC will provide the necessary infrastructure, while NIELIT will conduct structured training programmes.

The NCC said that the programme will be implemented in two phases. The first phase is a 15-hour online Cyber Security Awareness Programme, which will focus on digital literacy, cyber hygiene, safe internet practices, and awareness of cyber threats. It will be available to all NCC cadets across the country through the NIELIT Digital University platform. The second phase, titled Cyber Defender Programme, will be a 60-hour intensive offline training. Selected cadets will undergo hands-on training, real-life simulations, and practical exposure to cybersecurity tools to effectively identify and respond to cyber threats. The initiative aims to create a strong pool of trained NCC cyber cadets who can promote digital safety and awareness at the grassroots level.
