Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today called for mission-mode health care reforms and accelerated efforts to achieve TB Mukt Bharat by 2027. ( TB Free India)

Chairing a high-level review meeting with Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh officials in New Delhi, Mr Nadda highlighted the importance of robust drug regulation, and continuous monitoring of the entire supply chain. He directed both States to strengthen Free Drugs and Free Diagnostics schemes by plugging supply-chain and monitoring gaps. He informed that the Centre is working with IIM Ahmedabad to improve logistics, transparency and accountability in procurement.

Emphasising that quality diagnostics are the backbone of effective health care, the Union Minister called for strengthening diagnostic services across primary, secondary and tertiary levels. He underlined the need to professionalise hospital administration and tighten regulation of blood banks, hospital systems and safety protocols. Highlighting technology-driven solutions, Mr Nadda urged wider integration of tele-medicine to ensure specialist health care access in remote and underserved areas.

On tuberculosis, TB elimination, the Union Health Minister called for district and block-level mission-mode interventions with intensified screening, timely diagnosis, treatment adherence and nutritional support.

He also proposed sensitisation workshops for MLAs to strengthen coordination with Block and Chief Medical Officers, stressing that Jan Bhagidari is essential for accountability and better health outcomes.

The meeting focused on strengthening public health systems, improving patient satisfaction, enhancing regulatory oversight and accelerating key national health programmes.
