The United Arab Emirates UAE has cautioned Israel that any move to annex parts of the occupied Palestinian territories would cross a “red line” and destabilize the region. The warning underscores Abu Dhabi’s continued backing of Palestinian statehood despite its normalization of ties with Israel under the 2020 Abraham Accords.

According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al-Marar reiterated the UAE’s position on Thursday after the 164th session of the Council of Arab Foreign Ministers in Cairo. He said annexation of the West Bank or any occupied lands would undermine regional security and jeopardize the two-state solution, which the UAE views as the only path to lasting peace.

Al-Marar noted that the Cairo meeting, chaired by the UAE, resulted in a unified Arab stance rejecting Israeli displacement policies, opposing attempts to erase the Palestinian cause, and calling for an immediate halt to the war in Gaza.

He stressed that the UAE continues to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and is working with Arab partners to secure a ceasefire and restore stability. While the Abraham Accords opened avenues of trade and investment with Israel, relations have been strained by ongoing violence and the stalled peace process.
