As heavy rain continues, and the Met Department predicts heavy rains along with thunder and lightning for the next seven days in Kerala. A red alert is issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki districts for the next three days. An orange alert has been declared for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Ernakulam districts, while a yellow alert has been issued for the remaining seven districts.

As the rain intensified, control rooms were opened in the district headquarters. Mining activities have been banned in the state. Due to the risk of landslides and flash floods in the hilly areas, residents have been warned to move to safer places if necessary. Night travel and tourism activities are also restricted in these areas. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts as strong winds and bad weather are expected.
