Keshav Prasad, Brajesh Pathak to serve as Deputy CMs

Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive term today. This was followed by the oath taking of deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak.

50 other Ministers in the new cabinet also took oath on the day which includes, 16 other cabinet ministers, 14 state ministers with independent charge and 20 ministers of state.

PM Modi attended the grand ceremony held at the Bharat Ratna Atal bihari bajpai Ekana stadium in Lucknow today, and also tweeted some pictures from the event. The Prime Minister congratulated chief minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet on their oath taking.

In his tweet, The PM said he was sure that the state will write “another new chapter of progress” under the guidance of Adityanath. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath singh, Union information and broadcasting Minister Anurag singh thakur along with Chief Ministers of many BJP ruled states also attended the function.

AIR correspondent reports, at sharp 4.20 pm in the afternoon, Yogi Adityanath took the oath of chief minister of the biggest state of the country for the second time in a row and created history. The man, who was the unexpected pick by the BJP for the chief minister’s post in 2017, became the obvious choice this time and the confidence during the ceremony was quite visible. Thousands of BJP workers and dignitaries including seers and film stars, singers attended the function.

Many of Yogi’s former cabinet colleagues could not manage to get ministerial berths this time. Despite having lost the recent assembly elections, Keshav Prasad Maurya continues to remain the deputy chief minister while cabinet minister in previous government Brijesh pathak has been elevated to the deputy cm post. Police officer turned politician Aseem Arun also became minister.
