Attacking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bjp leader and Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday said the way TMC workers attacked BJP national president JP Nadda during his Bengal tour proves the law and order situation of the state.

“The BJP condemns it and I condemn it too personally. BJP believes that in a democracy everyone should have the right to voice their views. And it is the responsibility of the ruling party to ensure that every political party can have their voice. The attack on BJP chief is not only an attack on him. It is an attack on democracy in West Bengal and Trinamool Congress is completely responsible for this,” Shah said.

Revealing that BJP’s CM candidate in West Bengal for Assembly election 2021 will be someone from Bengal, not ‘outsider’ like what Mamata Banerjee generally terms BJP’s central leaders when they visit the state, Amit Shah said, “Does she want a country where people from one state will not visit another? Did she call Indira Gandhi, Pranab Mukherjee, Narasimha Rao outsiders when they used to come to West Bengal? But don’t worry, no one from Delhi will come to defeat you. Someone from Bengal will challenge you and be the next CM of the state.”

With several former Trinamool leaders like Mukul Roy, Suvendu Adhikari in its fold now, BJP’s CM face in Bengal will be worth waiting for as Amit Shah didn’t divulge any more details. In fact, he dismissed any link between his comment of ‘bhumiputra will challenge Mamata’ with Suvendu Adhikari — on being asked.

On the second day of his West Bengal visit, in Shantiniketan, Mr Shah told this in a press conference after holding a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Viswabharti University.

During his visit in Shantiniketan Ashram he  said, the poet was also an inspiration to country’s two great leaders Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and added that he was very fortunate to visit this great institution, which was founded by the poet.  Amit Shah today paid  floral tributes to poet Rabindranath Tagore at Rabindra Bhavan on the campus of Viswa-Bharati University in Birbhum district of West Bengal. Shah also visited the Upasana Griha (prayer house) and Sangeet Bhavan, where students of the university rendered Rabindra Sangeet in a cultural programme. During his visit to the Bangladesh Bhawan of Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, he  said  that Rabindranath was the only person in the world, whose creation, two songs were taken as national anthem in two countries, India & Bangladesh. He is still very relevant, said Mr Shah.

Later, Amit Shah had lunch at Basudeb Baul’s house in Ratan Palli, poured milk on Shiva’s head at his Shiva temple, performed Chapan Pujo, then listened to a Baul song. He worshiped at Hanuman Temple in Dakbangla ground. He will take part in the road show after puja.
