EC makes all arrangements for 1st phase of Lok Sabha polls

Election Commission has made all arrangements for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections to be held on April 11. 91 Parliamentary constituencies spread over 18 states and two union territories will go to polls.

All parliamentary constituencies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep, Telangana and Uttarakhand will go to polls in this phase. Besides, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal will also vote in the first phase.

Simultaneous voting will also take place for single phase Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and for 28 of 147 seats in Odisha.

Uttar Pradesh- poll activities are in full swing with election authorities gearing up for tomorrow’s polls. The constituencies that will go for polls in the first phase are Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Baghpat, Saharanpur, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor and Kairana.

Assam– All measures are being taken to conduct smooth polling tomorrow. Polling will be held for Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Kaliabor, Dibrugarh and Jorhat seats. Additional CEO Vivekanand Phukan said that adequate security measures have been taken to ensure that voters can exercise their rights freely.

He said, polling will be held at 9 thousand 574 polling stations and armed forces have been deployed to ensure security.

Mr. Phukan said that arrangement for webcasting and video recording has been made in selected polling stations.

Bihar-  the first phase of elections will be held in four constituencies –Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, and Jamui. Forty-four candidates are in the fray for this phase. Polling for by polls of Nawada assembly constituency will be held simultaneously with Lok Sabha polls.

In Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Baramulla Lok Sabha constituencies are going to Polls in the first phase.

Nagaland- is ready to go to polls tomorrow to elect the State’s lone Member of Parliament for the Lok Sabha seat and the by-election to the 26th Aonglenden Assembly Constituency seat under Mokokchung district.

Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha said that 325 polling parties designated as P-2 left for their respective polling stations yesterday as their polling stations are very far from the district headquarters.

In Arunachal Pradesh, campaign for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls ended last evening. The state will go for simultaneous Assembly and Lok Sabha Polls tomorrow.
