CBI raids in connection with alleged illegal sand mining in Uttar Pradesh during the previous Akhilesh Yadav government and Rafale aircraft deal rocked the Parliament  today.

Both the Houses witnessed repeated adjournments before finally adjourning for the day in the post-lunch session.

When the Lok Sabha met at 2 PM, Congress members again rushed to the well, demanding a JPC probe into the Rafale deal and raised slogans.

MPs from the Samajwadi party created an uproar over the CBI raids.

Amidst the din, the Personal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2018 was passed by the House. As noisy scenes continued, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan adjourned the House for the day.

In the pre-lunch session, the House had witnessed three adjournments.

When the House met at noon after the first adjournment, Samajwadi Party members raised questions over the CBI raids and alleged that the investigating agency is being misused by the Central government.

Dharmendra Yadav of the SP questioned the timing of the raids, alleging that it came immediately after a meeting between the SP and BSP leaders for an alliance.

Members of Congress were already in the well, raising slogans. They alleged that the government has misled the House on the Rafale issue.

Earlier, the Speaker suspended three AIADMK MPs and one TDP member from the House for two sittings for their unruly behaviour. The agitating members were in the well-raising slogans.

In the Rajya Sabha, Samajwadi Party, BSP and other Opposition MPs created a ruckus over CBI raids.

They surged into the well in the post-lunch session, raising slogans against the government.

Slogan-shouting members alleged that the CBI is being misused for political reasons and demanded that it must be stopped.

The Rajya Sabha witnessed two adjournments over the issue, before finally adjourning for the day.
