The BJP has said people in the northeast have voted for a change in Tripura and Nagaland and party’s effort in Meghalaya would be to form a non-Congress government. BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav told reporters in Agartala that the BJP looks like forming a government with 40 or more seats in Tripura.
Conceding that the CPI-M gave a good fight in Tripura, he said, Go for change was BJP’s slogan and the people have accepted its campaign. The BJP’S northeast in charge, Mr Madhav called it a historic verdict.

The BJP leader said, in the neighbouring Nagaland the pre-poll alliance of the BJP and NDPP will get the numbers to form the government.For Meghalaya, Mr Madhav said, the results appeared to be producing a divided house. He said there is a possibility of a non-Congress government in Meghalaya and BJP’s effort would be towards that.
Meanwhile, Senior BJP leader and Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh said, election result in three states shows the end of the politics of appeasement and the end of winning elections by creating negative and false illusions about BJP. Speaking to media in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, North East is completely amalgamated with the so-called mainland.
BJP leader and Minister of state for home affairs, Kiren Rijiju said the trends in all three states point to a new political direction. He added that it will have an effect on national politics as well.
Meanwhile, after the third round of counting was over, which indicated the lead of BJP-IPFT alliance, jubilant BJP workers thronged the streets of Agartala, mostly women and youths. Similar reports came from North and South Tripura. The BJP workers have been dominating the streets with saffron colour and started playing Holi.
