In Japan, the health ministry today said, 88 more people aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship off Yokohama coast have tested positive for COVID-19 taking the confirmed cases on the ship to 542. However, 65 of them were not yet showing symptoms.
The ministry said, a total of 611 people have tested positive for the virus in Japan including those on the ship.
The government earlier today said all passengers and crew aboard a ship quarantined off Japan have been tested for the coronavirus, as more countries moved to evacuate citizens from the boat.
A Japan health ministry official said, around 500 passengers who have been tested negative will start leaving the ship from tomorrow. Japan is working to prepare disembarkation for those whose test results are already clear.
The Indian embassy in Japan today said, the six Indians infected with the novel coronavirus on board the quarantined cruise ship off the Japanese coast were responding well to the treatment.
A total of 138 Indians, including 132 crew and 6 passengers, were among the 3,711 people on board the ship that arrived at the Japanese coast earlier this month.
