At least eight people, mostly children and women, were killed and 24 injured when Pakistan troops resorted to heavy shelling on border hamlets and military posts with 82 and 120 mm mortar bombs along the IB and LoC in Samba, Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir today.
Since morning, Pakistani forces have been resorting to heavy mortar shelling in Samba and R.S.Pura sectors along the Internatinal Border and Manjakote, Balakote and Nowhera sectors along the Line of Control.
According to Defence sources, six civilian casualties have taken place in Ramgarh area of Samba while two women were killed in Manjakote sector of Rajouri. Pakistani mortar shells have been landing in residential areas causing civilian casualities.
BSF along the International border and Army along the LoC has been giving befitting reply to Pakistani firing.
Yesterday also, Pakistan’s shelling in Poonch district along the LoC had killed a jawan and an elderly woman.
Meanwhile, Border Security Force, BSF, today destroyed 14 posts of Pakistani Rangers in retaliatory action along International Border (IB) in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Jammu region today. This was disclosed by the DIG BSF Dharmendra Pareek in Jammu.
Earlier, Army sources said in Jammu that two Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory firing along LoC opposite to Naushera sector of Rajouri district today.
