A Rohtak session court in Haryana, today sentenced to death seven accused in the Nepali deaf and dumb girl’s rape and murder case of Rohtak. Additional District and Sessions Judge Seema Singhal, who had convicted them in the case on 18 December and reserved her judgement for today, announced death by hanging to all. The girl had been subjected to inhuman torture and gang rape before her murder and the case remianed in news as Nirbhya case of Haryana.
The persons, who have been sentenced include Rajesh, Sunil , Sarwar, Manbir, Pawan and Parmod, all residents of Gaddi Kheri village in the district. A suspect, Sombir, of the same village had allegedly committed suicide while another accused hailing from Nepal is under trial in a juvenile court.
Notably, a 28-year-old Nepali woman staying with her sister in Rohtak went missing on February 1. She was undergoing treatment for depression at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences. Her mutilated body was found on February 4; the post report said pieces of condom and a stick was also found in her private parts. Her head had been bashed in and her vagina, rectum and anus were all ruptured.
