A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit northwestern Laos near the Thailand border early today. The United States Geological Survey said it had a depth of 10 km about 92 km northeast of Muang Nan district. The shallow quake hit at 6:50 am local time.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damages from the quake
