Tremor felt in north India particularly in Delhi and neighbouring Haryana and Punjab as a 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan today. The quake was also felt in Jammu and Kashmir.
There were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.
The earthquake hit at around 12.40 pm (0707 GMT) near Afghanistan’s northern border with Tajikistan in the Hindukush mountains at a depth of 191 kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.
In Srinagar, people were seen rushing out of buildings and offices in Srinagar.

Quake felt in various parts of Pakistan, 1 girl killed
A minor girl was killed and nine others were injured in Quetta as a 6.9-magnitude earthquake jolted various parts of the country on Wednesday, Dawn News reported.
According to DawnNews, the minor girl was killed when the roof of her house collapsed as a result of the earthquake.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake is 35 kilometres south of Jarm in Afghanistan, where the shocks were also felt. The depth of the quake is at 191.2km, USGS added.
