Union Minister Prakash Javadekar and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today unveiled a 568 kilogram laddoo on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 68th birthday.
Participating at a function organised by Sulabh International in New Delhi, which is celebrating Mr Modi’s birthday as Swachhta Diwas, Mr Javadekar said, Sanitation coverage has significantly increased in the country in last four years.
He said, under the Swachhta Campaign more than nine crore toilets have been constructed and four lakh 50 thousand villages have been declared open defecation free.
Mr Javadekar said, under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, sanitation coverage has reached 90 per cent from just 39 per cent in 2014.
Speaking on the occasion, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said sanitation has become a mass movement. He said, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has today become an effective mission with the participation and passion of common people of the country. He also said that the government is working with the commitment to Clean India, Healthy India.
