The counting would start at 8 AM on Friday in five states of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal are expected by noon on Friday.
In Assam, counting of votes for the 126 assembly seats will take place where polling was held in two phases on 4th and 11th of last month. 80 observers have been deputed to ensure trouble-free counting of votes in the state.
In Tamil Nadu, elaborate arrangements are in place for the counting of votes in ninety one centers.
In Kerala, counting of votes will start at 8 am in 64 centers spread across 140 assembly constituencies of the state. 81 observers have been deployed for the counting.
In West Bengal, 87 centers have been set up for counting of votes for 294 Assembly seats. The Election Commission has appointed 312 observers to oversee the counting process.
In Puducherry, counting of votes will start at 8.00 A.M in four counting centers. The counting process will be supervised by 12 Observers.
The counting of votes for the by-election held on April 9 in Channapatna, Bangarpet and Jagalur Assembly constituencies in Karnataka will also be held on Friday.
The counting of votes for the by-election of Aonglenden Assembly Constituency will also be done at Mokokchung town on Friday.
