A moderate earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Reichter scale struck Myanmar on Sunday afternoon jolted Dhaka and adjoining areas in Bangladesh. The tremors were felt in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and some other parts of Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said the earthquake struck at 3:14:49 pm (Indian time) which lasted for a few seconds. The epicentre of the earthquake was in Myanmar, about 441 km South-Southeast of Dhaka.

No reports of loss to property or life has been reported from anywhere in Bangladesh till now.

Earlier on Wednesday, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the same area. That quake was also felt from a large area of Bangladesh including Dhaka and Chattogram.
